Kate Masterton to Speak at University of Maryland
Forum On Preserving Farm Assets for the Future
Kate Masterton will be a featured speaker at the day-long forum on preserving, protecting and passing on farm assets being planned by the Baltimore County Office of the University of Maryland Cooperative Extension with the Harford, Carroll, Cecil, Howard, Montgomery and Anne Arundel county extension offices, the Maryland Horse Breeders Association, and accounting firm Naden/ Lean LLC. The seminar, Thursday, Sept.7th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in White Marsh, MD, will answer the How to' questions about financial and legal issues. Preparing for the financial future of an agricultural enterprise requires educating your children, planning for retirement, and developing strategies to pass farm assets to your heirs without saddling them with a crushing estate tax debt. This program will explain the terminology and processes needed to develop your plans. As tax laws change every few years, it is important to review your present situation and adjust your plans. Land preservation programs have changed and are expected to be well funded in the next year; learn how this can benefit you.
If you have questions about retirement, income sources, land preservation, insurance, managing risk, and the legal aspects of estate planning tools for farms, then this program will help you. The program costs $30 for each family member and includes lunch. To register, call the University of Maryland Cooperative Extension Baltimore County Office at 410-666-1022.
--The Law Office of Kathleen J. Masterton, P.C., celebrated its two-year anniversary by moving to its own larger, more spacious quarters in the Riderwood Building, near the corner of Charles Street and Kenilworth Drive in Lutherville/Towson. I want to express my gratitude to the many satisfied clients who have recommended the Firm to their friends and business colleagues, and to the many area attorneys who have demonstrated their belief in my expertise and integrity by referring cases to me. It is often said that the highest compliment an attorney can receive is the referral of ones business associates, friends and family. These referrals, and the confidence they represent, have made my growth and success possible. Thanks to such referrals, the Firms business in the areas of estate planning and administration, business and commercial law, equine law, and mediation has continued to thrive in our new location.
Although our address has changed, our telephone and fax numbers, e mail address, and web site remain unchanged. Feel free to clip out the "business card" printed below and save it for future reference. And if you are in the area, stop in and see our new office!
Enjoy the rest of the summer!
